An '''apprentice''' is someone learning a trade, generally through an agreement to work for little or no pay in exchange for the training by an experienced person.  Due to lack of regulation or licensed training available, most [[piercer]]s, [[tattooist]]s and modification artists learn through apprenticing, though some learn via experimentation on themselves or willing victims (friends, family members).
