A [[barbell]] does not need to be straight. A common variation is a '''circular barbell''', a barbell bent fully into the shape of a ring, with one or both ends [[Threading|threaded]] to accept a bead.

This jewelry design is also sometimes called a "three quarter bar" (because it is about three quarters of a circle).
