A fishtail labret is sort of like a nostril screw enlarged to fit a labret. Its simple backless design may minimize gum recession for people prone to it. However, many people find it uncomfortable and/or that it falls out in their sleep.
Raelyn Gallina is considered to have invented this type of jewelry.
