Henna
From BME Encyclopedia
Henna or Mehandi (not "Henna Tattoos") is the traditional chemical dyeing of the skin using the henna plant. A powder is made from the plant, which is made into a paste, which is then used to dye the skin. This discoloration usually lasts about two weeks. Henna is traditionally popular in Northern Africa, the Middle East, and Southern Asia. Traditionally, it is almost exclusively limited to women, and often limited to special occasions. There are many online pages that explore henna in depth such as www.mehandi.com
It should be emphasized that henna is not tattooing. Do not call it henna tattooing. It's temporary, it doesn't hurt, and it is extremely rare to even have an allergy to it.
