adj. Having a body which has been altered permanently through a means such as tattoos, piercings, scarification, implants, amputation, plastic surgery, and so on.

v. To be physically altered in a way that results in permanent change to the form of the body, generally in the sense of tattoos, piercings, scarification, implants, amputation, plastic surgery, and so on.

syn. Improved.

Over the past few years as a wider range of body modifications have entered the public's view, a need has arisen for a term with a broader meaning that could also encompass tongue splitting, implants, scarification, and so on. Thus, modified (or just modded).

Examples

  • "Modified people have a hard time finding jobs in some cities."
  • "I don't know what I'm getting next, but I'm looking forward to getting modded when I get my next pay check."

It should be pointed out that some people find the short form modded extremely annoying (like how "tatties" bugs some people).
