New Guinea is the world's second largest island and is located north of Australia (the world's largest island). The current population is an estimated 6.9 million people.
New Guinea is the traditional home to various tribes, the best known being the Ibitoe, who were known for their efforts at Wasp Waisting, or Corsetry, and their pierced septums. The Ibitoe were a major influence on Fakir Musafar's own efforts at Wasp Waisting.
